Since NDA is lifted and we can talk about it, what was everyones impression of phase 3 from this last test weekend.

Personally i wasn't impressed as much as i was hoping with the previous phases, but something about the minor tweaks, or maybe it was the familiar smell of the Limsa air, and the axe in my hand. But that shit was bananas crazy fun.

I can honestly think of few things i did in 1.0 that were as fun as the few things i did this weekend. It was a blast and i can't wait for more, take all my money SE.

I hate to be a fan boy though, so my complaint is grass looked like shit. and UI is a bit cluttered. Also most combat after lvl 12 war is just AoE spam so i hope thats not the case late game…. well i kinda do!

Fate - Pro: it wasn't as much of a clusterpluck. I was able to turn in quests and interact with quest stuff in a Fate area. Con: If item drops are added to the Fate NMs, it'll be a pain if you don't have friends that are willing to help camp it since if you aren't level sync'd, you don't get anything for the Fate.

Questing - Pro: While still somewhat annoying (what do you mean you can't walk your happy NPC ass 300 feet to give dude a letter?), I easily leveled to 14 on quests and the incidental hunter logs from said questing. Con: If the quest lists a level sync, you should be that level before you do that part of the quest. Getting two-shotted when you're below that cap is infuriating.

Graphics - These were far beyond either 1.0 or the previous beta phases. Thanalan got the biggest face lift, but I didn't find any ugly areas.

Area outside Limsa was amazing i've never been more pleased to kill a lost lamb in a field! That being said Thanalan is the best overall change, of course they get all the love, inside of town it and Limsa both didn't get much change besides some details that makes them feel more alive.

I'm with you berg Fate wasn't a cluster fuck and man those boss fights are hella fun, Prince of Pestilence and that Gobbue NM we killed were both the tits!, esp the gobbue, tanking that was insanely fun and if its a preview of things to come i'm stupid hyped.

We did one dungeon, and it was layed out well enough with hidden things to miss, but pretty straight forward. With the exception of one room that was fucking ape shit insane and we had to full wipe to get rid of the mobs. Final Boss was fun and a challenge but nothing mag couldn't handle with his Limit break.

The game was challenging, but not overly so. I thought they did a good job of making fights not just an ability spam fest in that are NOT supposed to always just stand toe to toe with a boss in a quest. I'm looking forward to it.

Just for the sake of playing devils advocate though, me and Berg did get through most fates and that dungeon buy SPAMMING our Aoe skill. I guess thats just how warrior works (still) just saying its a little broken and not super fun that way.

To be honest, when I was roaming solo I didn't use Overpower unless I got a link. The damage loss from spamming Overpower compared to Heavy Swing > Maim or Skull Sunder is just too high. 20 seconds to solo a single mob (seriously, Fracture never needs to be reapplied if it's the opener) versus 2 minutes to spam Overpower on groups places Overpower firmly into primary add tanking territory for me, unless it's a warrior burn party. Can't wait for Steel Cyclone on <2.5 second cool down.

Also, Tomahawk has the best animation so far.

Which reminds me, at lvl 20 I had Skill Speed +7 on my gear and my recast was down to 2.47 seconds. A little math makes that look like -.005s per point of Skill Speed. Can anyone corroborate that?

Edit: My math was terrible.

Ya i had about the same results with 9 skill speed on my gear total , you are right the dmg loss is insane with overpower but its super handy for tanking adds so i can see it being useful there, once you get maim combo i just opened with Fracture > maim combo > skill sunder combo and then just spammed skull sunder, usually opened with Tomahawk.

The animations are all awesome i can't wait to get berserk and i loved the one for foresight, glad they changed it to pretty much be defender.

I get the spamness of Warrior, but keep in mind we were all under level 20 by the end of it. We probably didnt use the best skills for our classes yet and I presume the ones we were using will still be viable at 50.
