Shouldn't be too hard since most of the gathering main tools themselves have 60+ gathering by 45. There's also the Explorer's Calot, Raptorskin Jerkin/Culottes, Boarskin Work Gloves. 70 doesn't seem too tough to hit.Arcell

45+ gathering tools cannot be used unless you want to forgo the rank 1 broken weapon point bonus. And just to be thorough, unless they changed it the stats from the offhand don't count unless you are actively using it.

Ah right, rank one tools. Well then we've got:

Level 45

Mythril Mesail: Gathering +18
Boarskin Jerkin: Gathering +24
Linen Shortgloves: Gathering +15
Boarskin Culottes: Gathering +14
Linen Gaiters: Gathering +14
Raptorskin Choker: Gathering +5

Total: Gathering +90

Level 50

Explorer's Calot: Gathering +24
Raptorskin Jerkin: Gathering +28 OR Militia Harness: Gathering + 36
Linine Shortgloves: Gathering +15 OR GC Sergeant Shortgloves: Gathering + 18 (all have this)
Raptorskin Culottes: Gathering +16
Linen Gaiters: Gathering +14
Raptorskin Choker: Gathering +5

Total: Gathering +102-113

So that puts you between 102 and 113 gathering stat. Not counting tools because they'd be broken. Personally, because it's overshot by so much I'd use the Raptorskin Thighboots instead of the Linen Gaiters because I don't like wearing heels while gathering. That would put you at a minimum of 96 gathering stat for the level 50. For the level 45 I'd use the Boarskin Thighboots which would put you at 83 gathering stat.

Though to be fair that's assuming Level 50 so maybe I should make another list of stuff you can use at 45 min lol. Edit: done.

All of the above is from Mooglebox and I'm fairly certain it's all accurate though I've been wrong before lol.

That's a pretty sweet list. Thanks for that.

We just did this successfully without using the broken weapons and I never failed once using a rank 43 weapon. I think this is very viable and will intend on braking a low level weapon to insure my point contribution is upped.

If i recall correctly, its 100 points for each person using a weapon/tool that is rank 10 or less and 80 for using a fully broken weapon.

100x7 (7 cause WAR needs a working weapon) = 700 x2 (Rank 2 defense) = 1400
80x7 = 560 x2= 1120

That's 2520 points…not a lot, but can makes a difference when we have to reach 60k to guarantee a drop. I think we need as many people as possible doing this.

Every point helps. Now I need to stop being lazy and get my Miner to 45. Guess I'll have fucktons of Darksteel by the end of this lol.

Just in case anyone needs it, here are the abilities to essentially make you an unbeatable crafter in Hamlet Defense.

Piece by Piece (ARM 45) - 30 progress
By the Book (GSM 45) - 30 progress
Unerring Hand (CRP 30) - 20 progress
Grand Design (WVR 30) - 20 progress
Tricks of the Trade (ALC 30) - 20 progress
And if you are desperate enough Make the Most (CUL 10) - 10 progress.

If you put together 2 30 progress abilities and 2 20 progress abilities and you are pretty much a god. The only way you can do it faster is if you get really lucky with 3 Rapids and that is not guaranteed so the ability way is technically superior. Putting some of the smaller amounts together works as well.

Thought I would pop in while I had gear stuff on my mind and remind folks that I, as well as a few other crafting fiends in the shell, would be more than happy to help make gear pieces to get more people who have rank 45 crafter/gatherer classes leveled. If you have the mats, I will make it/meld it for you for free. I'll even use whatever mats I have to save you on the cost. Hamlet Defense is some really tricky business and I'd really like to see more folks able to participate in much needed roles. Specifically gatherers if you can stomach it since that is probably our weakest point at the moment.

If you have a 45+ crafter or gatherer and need upgrades, especially gatherer since you have to hit a 70 gathering stat minimum, please feel free to give me a poke. Also, keep in mind Balon's nifty offhand crafting trick if you are a crafter and don't have the abilities to maintain a 100% success rate within 3-6 turns.

[EDIT] In case anyone is curious, I tested the gathering stat myself last ls event. You really don't need any more than 70 to knock out all non-damage related fumbles, so you don't need anything fancy.

Seconded: I had 75 gathering and had zero non-damage fumbles. I also had 3 hits in a row but kept the pot. Dunno if that was a bug or if even higher gathering wards against damage drops too. Maybe not gathering, might be high VIT or MND since I was on miner. Neither Output nor Perception were over 40 with that gear, so it's unlikely that was the cause.

I had a couple times where I got hit and didn't drop the pot, but no where near as good as yours. My gear is also pretty much the pits since most of the set is a look-good outfit rather than a gather-well one. Definitely worth more testing.

As a side point, no matter what gathering class you play, or crafting class if you have some wiggle room in your set up, added VIT is pretty decent since it adds a little to your HP. Rings are a nice way to add some extra too. You can also add "of Vitality" to some equipment, such as Boarskin Jerkin and Raptorskin Jerkin for the low cost of 1 extra leather.
