Was going over my numbers and came across this:

Does anyone know what the left vines are? Is it the equivalent of Ifrit's Horn? I tried a brief look online and didn't find any info (didn't try very hard). Both me and Tywin were the only ones who hit it and I'd like to know how we did it, if only just to know.

I've never heard of this before. Good eyes though. I wonder if she can be decapitated and what that might do?

Well I don't know what you and Tywin were on but if I had to guess I'd say Monk and Bard.

Limbs (Lower): Demolish & Leaden Arrow.

Incapacitation.

Hmm…maybe prevents her from using that damn AoE knockback?

We were both on BRD, so that is possible. Next time you guys are out there want to test it? I'd really like to know more about it and what effects it might have if we cut the vines off.

Oh look, I was bored during Ham downtime! So here's details for some folks to look over for the 17 minute speedrun. Taught to Balon, Silvano, Seraphine and I by Princess Xaioling. Not claiming any of this for my own. If anyone with better google-fu than I finds good threads or vids detailing this strat link to them.

First thing to mention is that this is a class stacking strat. Sucks for some, but good luck pulling 17 minutes without stacking something. Just how the content is designed. And to be honest as you are learning it it's still pretty rough with the stacking. Once everyone gets it down it goes really smooth with a few seconds to spare.

What you need:
1 Tank. Stays Tank the entire time. Has to know the layout of the dungeon very well.
2 WHM. One switches to BLM for Coincounter until Mistress. At some point both WHMs will have to change to MNK at the Mistress for the 17 minute run. If you can't make 17 minutes but still want to hit the speedrun, keeping 1 as WHM is fine if you like safety.
1 BRD. Changes to MNK for Mistress. Has to know the layout of the dungeon very well. Should have Sacred Prism and Stoneskin equipped.
4 BLM. 3 (or 4 if you go all MNK I guess) switch to MNK for Mistress. Can have one go DRG for stun if/when Mistress moves. If you can't make 17 minutes, one stays BLM to sleep Roselings and Slugs.

The roles:
Tank is there to lead everyone through the correct path and to gather mobs for proper AoEing. It is very important that everyone sticks to the tank (except for the BRD and on certain occasions) and that the tank does not move until the first AoE has gone off. There are 3 times the tank separates from the group briefly. One to do something at the start of the 2nd room to grab some roslings. One to grab the NW chest in the second area after the last group of mobs has been AoE'd. And to grab the very last chest in the room with the Diremites after the Garleans in the third area. Knowing how to dodge Coincounter is a plus. For Mistress, the tank tanks her right where she is. Before you pull, make sure that the people who need to change jobs at the last second are fully equipped.

WHM's rotate Regen and heal as usual through the poison rooms. Only Stoneskin the tank, save Sacred Prism for Regen. That's to keep the Regen flowing. So basically business as usual. In the second poison room after the BRD grabs the secret chest one of them might have to meet the BRD halfway to heal him/her if things get a little rough, but if the Regen before the BRD has to split goes off perfectly he/she is usually ok. Once you hit Coincounter, one of the WHMs changes to BLM and stays as BLM until Mistress. Since the tank will be dodging it should be ok. The BRD will help Stoneskin, but as there are only two capable of casting it sometimes there will be downtime. Just a head's up. When you get to Mistress the last WHM changes to MNK after getting to the buffing spot and casting AoE regen on everyone. Unless you can't do a 17 minute run. Then you can stay as the single WHM for safety. One extra thing to note is if something goes wrong the tank might call for a Holy. Be ready for that if it happens.

BRD will be taking a non-damaging role, keeping Speedy Feet or Ballad up when appropriate and grabbing all but two chests. A good way to tell if the run is going well and things are dying as they should is if the BRD is crap on the damage meter. In the first room, split off from the group to grab the first chest in the NW corner cutting through the piss pool to avoid the frog. In the second poison room, when you hit the Roseling spot let the WHMs gather the roselings and cast Sacred Prism>Stoneskin on the group to help out. After they are gathered, help kill the Roselings. After getting regen and casting Ballad at the AoE point after the Roslings the BRD should run back and grab the secret chest, then run up the side of the wall to the NE blue circle regardless of any mobs that might be there. Though usually there isn't anything if things go well sometimes there is a Slug or Diremite. Hopefully a WHM has your back during those times. At CC it is your job to measure the safe spot. Help the WHM by casting Stoneskin on the tank and keep Ballad up, though if everything goes well you will not have to recast. In the second Garlean spot, third area, grab the chest when the tank gets aggro. The BRD is the only person to stand on the first blue circle past the Efts, then runs to the second after the first is popped. In the last area before Mistress, hit the last Diremite for 1k TP, cast Battle Voice>Paeon and enter the portal. You will have aggro on the Diremite so you won't be able to change your class until the cutscene, so slam your MNK macro. Change jobs as you run, but wait to properly equip yourself until you reach the "buffing spot" for a normal run. If you miss the 17 mark and are going for a regular speed run, stay as BRD and save Battle Voice>Paeon for after you engage and give the WHM and BLM Ballad.

BLMs follow the tank, with a few exceptions, and AoE the shit he gathers with Flare and Fire Spells. Do not Blizzara or Sleep anything (One exception. I'll get to that.) Cast quickly and as close to the same time as you can. In the second room follow the WHMs to the Roseling spot, wait for them to gather together and cast AoE. Stick together. After the last group has been killed ignore the tank and head NE to the blue circle. Don't take aggro on Coincounter. Don't Sleep/Blizzara the Diremites. Ignore the first circle after the Efts and continue killing. When popping the last two circles, everyone but one BLM should switch to MNK to get cooldowns running. The last BLM will wait until Battle Voice is cast in the next room, then Sleepga the Diremites and enter the portal. You will probably have aggro on the mites, so slam your MNK macro. Wait to equip until you are at the "buffing spot". If you can't hit the 17 minute mark and are going for a regular speed run, the last BLM stays BLM. As soon as the Roselings pop, stop all DPS and head over to sleep them. Also sleep any Slugs that come close.

That's pretty much it. Very easy so long as everyone works together.

More in depth BRD description for the 17 minute run because I am still bored:

FIRST AREA:
Swiftsong before you enter if the person who enters gives you a heads up. Swiftsong inside if not. Run to the Vale Wasps, help kill (though that shouldn't be necessary if everyone is on it) and Swiftsong again. Once you pop the portal, cast another Swiftsong. If you have time you could Sacred Prism>Stoneskin, but in the few times I tried I didn't quite make it before the move. Follow the tank until you reach the NW toad, wait for the tank to grab the slug in the pool there, then run through it to grab the chest. Go back the same way and meet up with everyone else, who should have everything dead by the time you get there. Swiftsong again, but only after everything is dead if the enemies are still alive for some reason.

SECOND AREA:
If you have time, you can Sacred Prism>Stoneskin here. If not, wait for a bit. Follow the WHMs north along the wall. Stop near the entrance to the northern path that leads to the fruit room. If you did not cast Sacred Prism>Stoneskin before running in, cast it now. Everyone should be standing right on top of you to get it. Wait for the WHMs and tank to gather the Roselings together and then start helping to kill them. If the BLMs are on top if it you shouldn't have to shoot much. Just before they die stop shooting, then cast Swiftsong right after they die. Follow the tank into the poison and onto the next AoE point, then cast Ballad. If the WHMs are on top of it you should have 25-45 seconds on Regen. If you have less than 12 wait for the next Regen cast. Once you have regen, go all the way back to the secret chest spot at the start of the area. Give yourself Swiftsong when you are out of range of the group. If things go smoothly the chest will be there before you get there. If not cast Stoneskin/Cure yourself. Go all the way back where you came from following the wall to the NE blue circle. A WHM will hopefully come down a bit to hit you with a Regen or a heal. Help pop the circle and cast Swiftsong. If it seems like you have a while, or if you get to the circle before anyone else, you can cast Sacred Prism>Stoneskin on the group when they meet you on the circle. In the next room run to where everyone else is and cast a Ballad in the center of the chaos. Help pick off whatever is left.

THIRD AREA:
Cast a Ballad before the circle pops if you can, though usually people are lagging behind here. It is your job to guide everyone to a safe spot. You can use your Quick Shot range to gauge distance. If you can hit him with it you are way too close. Just out of range is also a little dangerous, so learn the sweetspot. Cast ballad again if anyone missed the first one, then cast Stoneskin on the tank when you can and shoot arrows like usual. Coincounter should go down before Ballad is up. Cast Swiftsong as soon as the tank joins the group, who should have headed toward the chest. Follow the tank till the room with the Garleans in it and grab the chest when the tank takes aggro. Once you rejoin the group in the start of the north hallway there should be very little left alive. If there is a lot, help out a bit. If not, save it so you can Swiftsong after the Garleans are dead. Run forward until you hit that spot where BLMs love to stand to kill the Efts. If MP is low, cast a Ballad. If MP is high keep running to the spot where the first blue circle will spawn and stand there. Give yourself Swiftsong while you wait if you need. After you kill the first circle, run to the second to kill it. The tank and whoever is staying BLM usually joins you, so give them Swiftsong. After it is dead run to where the rest of the group is and hit any job changing stragglers with Swiftsong.

FOURTH AREA:
Take out your bow and soon as you get in and run right behind the tank. When you get to the last Diremite near the portal use Barrage and hit it till you get 1k TP. Stand on everyone, if you are not already, and use Battle Voice>Paeon, then enter the portal as soon as you can/BLM sleeps them.

MISTRESS:
Run to the blue circle and spam your PGL>MNK macro. You still have hate on the Diremite so you can't change jobs until the cutscene activates. After you escape the cutscene, switch from PGL to MNK if your macro hasn't done it already as you run but don't start equipping until you get to the "buffing spot" pretty much everyone uses for Mistress. Once you are there change gear. Don't forget your jewelry or Fists of Fire. All of your cooldowns will be running, so you won't do as much damage as the folks who were able to switch earlier, but you can still deal a decent amount. Since there are no WHMs when you start fighting her after Regen you are responsible for your own health. Make sure to use Second Wind if you need it (If all goes well you won't) and pop an Elixir in an emergency. Win.

The second area in the above video is something I would like to try next time if people are up for it. I know some folks might be thinking we shouldn't rock the boat, but we've never hit a 17 min run as a shell so there's not much boat to rock. This route for the second room should help shave some seconds. Of course, if folks are not up for it that's fine.

If you want to get to the meat of it, skip to the 3 min mark. It's worth a watch from the start since they do things slightly different if that sort of thing interests you. The part I am talking about starts at 6:15.

6:15 - Buffs before running in. Everyone runs through the poison and behind the frog.
6:30 - Tank Provokes the first lily
6:40 - BRD tags the second and third lily while the tank (with Stoneskin hopefully to keep from being pulled by the toad) keeps running up, face pulls the second lily, then runs back toward the group which should still be standing in the place where the BRD split off. BRD kites the lilies into the mob pool while BLMs kill stuff, then runs back into the mess. After everything is dead, BRD casts Swiftsong and everyone who doesn't need Ballad runs forward. Anyone who needs Ballad stays behind for a second to get it from the BRD, then plays catch up to the group. From here, the path is pretty much exactly the same for everyone except the BRD, which has to run through a poison pool to get to the chest, then takes the normal path up to join the group who is hopefully running toward the last blue circle at that time.

The only problem with this strat is that the BRD could easily die, since it has to separate from the group. That said, so long as it manages to die on the group pile this particular route would still save us some time, even factoring in the Raise.

I've done speed runs where the brd runs down and grabs a fruit just for themself for the speedy. idk if this could work for super speedy. Maybe that could help brd survive the nasty.
