You're all wrong! This shit is the golden truth brought down to us by an angel that is Yoshi-P, it is ambrosia for the sou…. bah i can't finish this statement as i will surely burst into flames!!

PT and Diji are right its random bullshit and it sucks RNG as we seem to be calling it is involved in all mmo and is unavoidable but in the quantities we get it in this(EVERY FUCKING THING) its unacceptable, There are other ways to make things a challenge that don't involve random motherfucking luck, you know, skill, time? effort? I'd rather have to gather 300 miser vines that are a 100% guaranteed drop from a Speed run miser kill, then slay 1000 enemies of a certain type under a fucking full moon with the unfinished blade. then randomly hope for 9 fucking seals, or 3 even.

Its not good game design thats the bottom line, and its certainly not rewarding to the player base. And white knighting about it doesn't help.

My suggestion is stuff like the forums threads about ending the speed runs etc, the dev do seem to listen to the community at times so thats something to be greatful for.

I'm sure you're just saying it for the sake of exaggeration but if the requirements were as you described, I would 100% never ever see a Relic weapon because I've yet to ever do a single speed run, let alone hundreds. I at least have a chance with the RNG as opposed to that. I'm all for difficult fights with longer lock-outs for 100% drop rates but not when things like speed runs and whatnot are involved.

Could it have been done better? Yes, were I in their shoes I wouldn't have taken quite the same route. However I don't think what they've given us is 100% unreasonable. That's just me though I guess.

Guess I'm not allowed to accept or god forbid like anything the dev team puts out, otherwise I'm a white knight. I really don't see where I'm blindly defending them without questioning a thing they do though so I'm not sure why I continually am called a white knight. I've called them out when I thought they were wrong, I've voiced my opinion on the forums even in discontent. I've never said they're perfect or incapable of doing wrong.

I should probably just shut the hell up at this point though because I'm clearly in the minority.

1. Stop taking shit personally we're all just talking here.

2. with the speed run thing its skill based is the point, not luck so the odds are ever in your favor.

3. ya man we know you call um at all the time, i'm talking in general about people me included cause i'm guilty of it too at times, that give them a pass on this kinda shit. I really hope this stuff is cut down after 2.0 otherwise they might have a problem on their hands.

I could have sworn I edited my post out but I guess it didn't take, thought better of it. Probably wasn't the best thing to say.

I'm in the minority here as I guess I just don't see it as that big of a deal. I'm not saying it's 100% the best thing ever, I've just accepted it as what I have to do to get a Relic weapon. I want a Relic weapon so I'm going to do it, I guess I just don't see much more to it than that.

All we can do is voice our opinions on the official forums and that's pretty much is. That's it. No guarantee that anything will change.

Is that a hunger games quote?

Cut from the latest interview:

1UP: A couple things in the game right now that seem to be, as Final Fantasy XI players might say, are "haunted by the ghost of Tanaka." For example, the Relic weapon quests that were just added yesterday seem to rely very heavily on luck. And this kind of thing is really discouraging to a lot of players. An element of luck is okay, but effort is more important. And there's always the thought that, yeah, if I do this enough times, I might get lucky and get it, but there's always the fear that they won't. Especially after the Ifrit and other boss battles. I know people say that they fought 75 times and they haven't gotten a weapon yet, and they're just really frustrated, and they're upset to see that same thing happening in other systems. So are there any plans to adjust the luck/effort balance of high-level content in the future?

NY: We can tell you that at version 2.0, a lot of things are going to be changing in this aspect. For example, like a token type of system, where if you do it enough times, you're going to get rewarded for doing it that many times. We also have something else prepared as well that's going to address this… we can't talk about it now, but we have many things in place that will address that issue.

And the other thing being that, the real need for the Need, Greed, and Pass type of system when things get dropped, things that are pretty much a global standard that we haven't achieved yet on Final Fantasy XIV. We understand that we have those problems, but with the current system, we can't address them. But we will be able to address them in 2.0 with the new system and the new engines. And so you can go back and tell the community that, come 2.0, we will actually have that global standard and you won't have to worry as much about these types of things. But again, that doesn't mean we're going to forget about our current version players. We're going to listen to the voices of the players, look at the forums, adjust drop rates to reduce as much stress as possible for the players so they can experience this grand finale, the Seventh Umbral Era story, that ushers in 2.0.1up
