I was thinking that some people that experience lag may be interested in trying it. I think I am going to try it out and see if it helps with the lag in Garuda and Ifrit. I know I am far from attempting Ifrit Extreme but I here the lag can be a severe handicap for some in there.
Any of you tried it? Any thoughts? I don't know much about this sort of thing but I am desperate to try anything that can help with the spell delay and things.
I'll let you guys know how it works out and if I see any improvement. As it is, I can be 7 steps away from cracks in ifrit and still get hit. Also, garuda wind vortex phase is kind of tricky. I look like I am in a good spot sometimes but still get killed by the wind vortex sometimes.
I was curious so I took a peek at the site. While I do have lag for FFXIV, I don't really experience it for any other game. According to their website info the likelihood it would help my with my issue at all is slim to none. Still, thanks for the link.
I do have some lag in other games, nothing as extreme as XIV though. It can get near unplayable and I have to try and see into the future so party members don't die because of lag I have to hit cures before they are off cooldown. I'm preaching to the choir I'm sure.
I was unable to test it out in Ifrit last night. People are busy with new patch stuff. I did notice some improvements with Battleping on. When casting cures I don't have to try and start another cure before the timer is off cooldown, in fact it does nothing when I try to start casting a cure before the timers are like .2 sec before being ready. Menus seem much more responsive and cast bar pops a lot sooner after hitting abilities. Examining people and looking at their gear I see the gear icons all pop at once and the pop up too tip appears quickly where before it was slow and sluggish. I'm talking looking at gear I would see one thing pop up at a time and have to wait for tooltip to pop when mousing over in Uldah w/o using this battleping thing.
I really want to give it a go in Ifrit to test cracks but not one group for ifrit formed while waiting in Uldah last night. I can't play much during the day so idk when I'll be able to get in there.
I wish I knew how to collect data so I could actually see why it feels quicker and more responsive. I don't trust myself and want to make sure it isn't some sort of weird placebo effect because I really just want to find something that works. I might look into that if I have the time.
Maybe if I do find proof it actually works I might lie about it so I can still use lag an an excuse for my sucking ;)
I have to test it in freaking Ifrit. I'll try again tomorrow morning.
If you have anyone near your area that also plays the game, a really good test is to play the game together and either record or discuss the differences between actions on your separate computers. I did my testing with Mcbite (has a far better computer which means less lag) who is just down the hall from me, which is probably a convenience that you don't have but it was handy. We both recorded a session. After recording I was able to look at both recordings and compare. That's how I was able to figure out that I am 1.5 to 2 seconds behind depending on how busy the area is. It's a clunky way to do it for sure, but it'd give you definite proof of what you need to know.
