So….discuss lol.

The biggest discussion going around the official forum is revolving around Thm/Blm. So you guys can cross-class Archer and Pugilist skills, how does that benefit you? Well for starters Second Wind is a great self-heal that only takes TP. But how would a mage go about getting TP easily? Quelling Strike. Works on spells and grants TP, not to mention the little enmity reduction.

Another point to consider: Not everyone will be able to raise. Only Paladin, Bard and White Mage will have access to raises now. In addition to that, in boss fights the Paladin is going to be tied up tanking so you'll have one less raise there too. What does this mean for us? Stop dying so much lol.

That is only assuming that we all go into Ifrit or other endgame content as a job. We could always bite the bullet and go as our respective classes.

Looks interesting :3 I guess it will take some experimenting after the patch to see how it works. I suppose it was a little bit like that after 1.20 came out.

True buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut maybe we should just learn to play better/die less so we don't have to worry about the contingency of everyone having raise. I could see it being a viable plan for our learning runs but after we have it down we shouldn't have to worry about it. Plus the jobs are supposed to be better for party play, and for the party as a whole so aside from Raise there's more reason to go on Jobs than classes.

And after both 1.18 and 1.19 lol. Hopefully this will be the last time we'll have to completely re-learn how to play the game.

BLM would get chameleon then too with archer. PUG I don't get except for second wind. But then, I don't remember all the PUG cross class skills.

Bard = CNJ/THM

Rant: I will not be subject to backup healing. They have made Bard a clear form of buff/DPS in my eyes. I will equip such skills to DPS and debuffing (Aero, Stone, Blizzard prolly) and Raise. Maybe SP and SS instead of Stone. Maybe. /endrant ^^;

Edit: I'm going to be a backup healer aren't I? ; ;

Edit 2: Here's something for discussion:

" The series of job quests will not involve extremely difficult tasks such as fighting primals. Rather, they will be new game elements intended to boost character growth and motivate players."

I wouldn't ask a Bard to be a backup healer unless we're really hurting for cures. Keep it on the bar just in case you or someone else needs it but I'd say don't worry about it.

The job quests seem like they won't be things you need entire groups to be on their absolute A-game for. Probably solo quests but with new/unique gameplay elements. Doesn't mean they aren't difficult, they're just not full group highest difficulty in the game currently stuff.

On a side note, I wonder if that Monk bind skill works on Ifrit or any other Primals. If it works on Ifrit, a Monk could bind Ifrit and allow the party to heal up/recover or even hold Ifrit long enough for the rest of the party to take down all the nails.

I'm sure they've considered that and Primals are probably immune to it.

I completely agree with the "Stop dying" bit, but about the "Paladin being tied up bit"… I don't rememeber any of our tanks actually doing this, but in Ifrit pugs I have seen tanks use Raise during the jumps just fine. Hell, I had one fight where one CNJ ate up all the raises but the tanks, then the good CNJ died. So all the DPS stopped and the tank cast Raise on the good healer as Ifrit was pounding on him. We won that fight too. Of course, this might not work well in other fights.

There are a lot of people who disagree with me, but Featherfoot is badass. I can't do this if I go BLM instead of THM, nor can I do it if the CNJs don't treat me like a tank and heal me, but I have successfully tanked Ifrit's post hellfire phase after the tank has gone down in quite a few wins using Featherfoot as one of my abilities. Definately worth a look if you happen to have a free slot.

Okay so who was in mumble last night when i literally said this was how the Job system was gonna work…. been stewing on my prediction skills all day at work!!

I hope not, constant evolution is fun, with the addition of new jobs and such later down the line, i hope this becomes a frequent pattern!

Constant change sure, but not having to 100% relearn how to fight everything. Changing things up once in a while is nice but when we have to relearn everything we know about combat, it makes the game feel kinda like a beta. I mean like having to consider combat in a different light due to a new class/job or new actions sure, that's great but having to rethink everything you know about how the game's combat system works, no thanks.

Tanked Ifrit as a Thaumaturge? I guess if it's for a short period you could survive, with heals that is. Hell I guess at that rate PGL could probably do it, though I dunno if Monk will be able to what with the lack of Glad abilities. At any rate both Black Mage and White Mage have PGL cross-class ability so you'd get to keep Featherfoot.
