They way events will work is that each event will award a set amount of points (most, especially at this stage in the game, will probably be 1). I will add your points in on the DKP page so all can see.

But why do we have points? Well, for right now, NM gear, Raid Chests', and I think Stronghold Chests' items go into your Loot, which you can choose to Take or Give. So, what I would like to do is have it so that when there is a LS event going on, say an NM hunt, and 3 people want the <item>, whoever has the highest points will get to claim it.

In terms of deductions, I was thinking just subtract enough points so you are -3 from whoever was 2nd, that way everyone who participates often gets a chance. In cases of ties, /random is being implemented in 1.20, so highest roll. If anyone has a better idea, feel free to share it with me/us.

If you would like to submit an event idea, follow some form of format like the one below:

Event Name:

How often (#/week, #/month)?

What do we do?

This is similar to the system we used in JB on FFXI. It worked really well. We never used deductions though. Everything was worth 1 point and had to be an announced event so as to make it fair to everyone. Lotting rights started at the top and went down the point list. We never had problems with not getting items we wanted, and those who showed up were repaid in kind for their hard work.

That requires some planning, but keeps the playing field level. Its worth it. That way a random event doesn't break out just because enough people are on which isn't fair to those who are not.

Of course the loot system is much more simple in XIV, but keeping up with attendance points for scheduled events is a good idea in case the system is every changed or tweaked.

Edit: Disregard this, I figured out that loot will still show with 0.0 point value
I'm cool with keep points consistent, maybe just deduct 1 point so I can use the DKP system? xD I finally understand the freaking thing and want to use it.

Huh? The concept of points was really just a constantly increasing number that reflects your contribution to the shell. You didn't spend them, they just kept going up by one for every event you went to. No more, no less. It was very simple and worked quite well.
