- BRD/BLM Gearing
I can't really get on tonight (yay Tuesdays) and I can say with certainty that I do not have any grade 4 materia, or grade 3s for that matter, on me atm. I think I have some Raptor Leather though, I would have to check.
I am assuming that you are trying to get Garuda level geared for BLM? An Electrum Scepter with an MACC materia on it is usually much cheaper than going for a Lightning Brand with a INT materia, since INT is a bank breaker. You can also use it to free up some accessory slots with INT jewelry, which is also cheaper than buying INT IVs. Both Magnus and I were rocking Electrum Scepters yesterday and were both able to help get her to 35%. Even when I had some random missing issues on one attempt (@ 500 macc) I was still able to dish out the damage needed. Not saying the Lightning Brand is not better, because it is, but that you can get away with using cheaper stuff until you can build your set better and it has the added bonus of delicious macc.
A super cheap solution for a hat is to do a 60k run of the Golden Bazaar Hamlet. The hat is a 100% drop at that level. We have people who need the seals so we can probably set up a day for it. A lot of folks already have the hat, so competition wouldn't be very harsh.
For your pants, I would personally not suggest doing a single item for both your BRD and BLM. That is your choice, but there are arguably better choices for both of them if you are just starting a set of end game gear. For BLM, Woolen Tights tend to be cheaper than Felt Gaskins, at least in materials used to make them. They are high enough level to accept grade 4 materia and have both INT (pew pew) and MND (for a little macc) which the Gaskins lack. You lose a small amount of MP wearing the Tights, but in my opinion the amount of INT you gain more than makes up for it. Put a decent grade 4 Loreman's Wit on them. Better for BLM than Wiseman's Vision from a min max perspective. For BRD, if you feel like you have to switch out the Choral Tights which are a pretty good piece, I suggest going with the Raptorskin Subligar instead if you are not at the DEX soft cap, which starts you with 5 DEX. Other materia you can look at besides Wiseman's Vision is Watchman's Vigil (VIT and DEX), Swordsman's Cry (STR and DEX) or Vestryman's Faith (MND and PIE).

I may very well want to use the Electrum Scepter instead for Garuda at least, I hadn't considered the accuracy factor with bosses especially.
For pants I had considered the subligar but I don't really want to wear them lol. I'm thinking I'll just stick with the Gaskins for BRD and meld something with Dex onto it, that way it'll have more Dex and some Piety that the Subligar doesn't have. I may very well go with the Woolen Tights for BLM.
I appreciate the suggestions, I borrowed some money from Balon so I'll start looking into it tonight.
