All right its past time to punch fuck the shit out of cutters cry and feast upon the delicious goodies held with in! I'll update this as we get info on chest etc!
Seems the strat is to pull into corner by the web and just have blm and Melee Aoe the incoming waves down. When the final wave comes just have a WAR (^_^) tank it while a whm watches him and a dd gives some assistance.
I am waiting for meat to cook so… how to win! Yay!
This is pretty much exactly what we were doing before, but a few minor changes.
Main tank tanks the Princess at the web. One healer on tank, one healer on BLMs or whoever is AoEing ants (the harder of the two healing assignments). Let the ants go toward the tank before AoEing them. BLMs that want to win will save their mana for AoEing ants and Guards, targetting Princess so everything gets hit. When the Guards spawn (once a minute) on Princess' location everyone has 7 seconds to kill it. BLMs should use Thunder combos on the Guard unless there are a lot of ants up. When the Marshal spawns the off tank (probably a WAR) will face it so that it is nearby but its butt is touching, or at least facing, the Princess' butt. Here's the important parts:
1. DO NOT TAKE HATE FROM THE TANK. 2. DO NOT KILL THE MARSHAL. 3. THIS IS NOT A DPS RACE. IT IS A BATTLE OF ATTRITION. TURN OFF YOUR PARSER IF YOU CANNOT HANDLE NOT TOPPING THE CHARTS BY AN OVERWHELMING AMOUNT. Or at least until we can win consistently.
Everyone keeps doing what they are doing, eventually kills the Princess and then you kill the Marshal. If you kill the Marshal too early, she summons another one. The fight is still winnable, but it takes a hell of a lot longer and is a huge strain on the healers.
Tank picks up Chimera and takes it to the back, but a little to the left side of the room to make sure everyone else gets in range. The tank can and should run into the inside of the boss on certain abilities (dunno which) to negate the damage. The tank can be paralyzed or poisoned, so the tank healer has to watch out for that. Everyone else runs a little to the left and stands directly on top of one another next to and around the middle of a short curved wall. Being a little off from this position can kill you. Here's some more important parts:
1. DO NOT TAKE HATE FROM THE TANK. Taking hate from the tank can lead to unrecoverable losses. 2. TURN OFF THE DAMN PARSER. 3. IF YOU ARE SUCKED TOWARD THE CHIMERA RUN BACK TO YOUR SPOT, HUGGING THE WALL, IMMEDIATELY.
BRDs can do slow and steady damage to the main boss for the first phase. Do not risk taking hate (I told you to turn off the parser). BLMs should only be casting Thundara (the instant cast) when Chimera glows red in an attempt to stun it. Seriously, save your mana for second phase. If you are melee… hope you are good at dodging stuff and not standing in crap. This is Ranged Fantasy XIV after all.
Once Chimera hits about 50% HP ant come swarming out for phase 2. BLMs should be full mana because they were not stupidly DPSing Chimera and the healer not on the tank needs to be ready. BRDs should AoE any ants that are around the Chimera or the tank (tank should not use AoE hate abilities during this time if possible). BLMs need to focus on AoEing the ants down and keeping them off the healer. BRDs can help out the healer by casting Sacred Prism>Stoneskin since the healers will be too busy to cast Stoneskin during the ant attack. I am not sure if there is a limited number of ants, or if the ants stop spawning after the Chimera gets a little lower in health. Either way, they eventually stop and it is on to phase 3.
For phase 3, since everyone is hopefully standing in the safe spot everyone should go back to doing what they were doing in phase one, only this time BLMs can do damage as they normally would.
I have been told that getting another Marshal a while after killing the first during the Princess fight, which I have actually witnessed so it definitely can occur, must be a bug since the time you kill the Marshal is what determines a chest or something. I don't know if that it true, but I do want to throw it out there in case it is.
Found an awesome map translation that was just done by Tiny Mandragora on FFXIVpro (link at the end of post).
The maps is very large and provides a lot of detailed information. I hope this helps to provide everyone with some insight as to what to expect or reaffirms current knowledge of the dungeon.
Right click image to save or open in a new tab for the large version.
There is also a detailed map of The Aurum Vale, which I will post into the the AV thread.
